A Day In Hula Workshop

On Sunday, November 23, 2003, Kumu Shawna and Kumu Patrick joined together to offer a Hula workshop called, "A Day In Hula". The mixture of haumana from each Halau was a perfect blend! Kumu Patrick warmed us up in the morning, then taught a Hula Kahiko entitled "He Komo No Kapi'olani." It tells a story of a beautiful diamond ring that Queen Kapi'olani received as a gift while on her tour of Europe. After lunch, Kumu Shawna took us on a trip to O'ahu with a Hula 'Auana entitled "Nani Ka'ala." The song pays tribute to the beautiful attributes of various places on O'ahu. Both dances were chosen as a prelude to our Huaka'i that each Halau will be going on together in April,' 2004. We can't wait!
